Dr. Vivian Chen is a board-certified orthodontist in New York City who blends precision, artistry, and a deeply personal approach to care. Originally from Portland, Oregon, she earned her degree in Biology from Columbia University, where she also minored in Visual Arts serving as a creative foundation that continues to inform her eye for facial balance, proportion, and smile design.
Between college and dental school, Dr. Chen was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship, an experience that broadened her global perspective and strengthened her commitment to thoughtful, patient-centered healthcare. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of California, San Francisco before completing her orthodontic residency at University of Pennsylvania, earning her Certificate in Orthodontics.

Dr. Chen provides comprehensive orthodontic care for teens and adults, offering both braces and clear aligner therapy. Having completed orthodontic treatment herself, including both braces and Invisalign, she understands firsthand the physical and emotional transformation that comes with a confident smile. Patients often appreciate her calm demeanor, attention to detail, and the time she takes to ensure they feel informed and comfortable at every step.
Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, Dr. Chen enjoys connecting with families from diverse backgrounds and creating an environment that feels welcoming and personalized. Coming from a family in healthcare, she developed an early appreciation for compassionate, high-quality care, values which remain central to her practice today.
Outside the office, Dr. Chen enjoys playing tennis, painting, and searching for the New York City’s best matcha latte.
